Talk:Glendora, California

In the "Notable Residents" section, shouldn't there be some indication (at least for those other than for instance Sally Rand who have their own articles), as to why they are worth noting? Ironwolf 14:46, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Since I made the above comment last September, I continue to see families being added to the "Notable Residents" section, but since there has been little action in adding support to why these residents are notable I'm considering moving the unsupported listings to the Talk page until people choose to support these assertions. 21:06, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
I've now marked the article as needing more citations, and specifically called out the Notable Residents that need them. Please help by adding the needed information. Ironwolf 21:54, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Uncited Notable Residents
| This article does not cite any references or sources. (August 2006) Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. Unverifiable material may be challenged and removed. |
I have moved the following entries here from the Notable Residents section. Please add the needed support for including them, then move them back to the main article. Ironwolf 00:30, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
- George Whitcomb
- Joe Finkbiner
- Heinz Rubel (known as Hal Raynor, comedy partner with Joe Penner)
- Grant Toneck
- The Milhous Family
- The West Family
- The Flowers Family
- The Gordon Family
- The Bidwell Family
- The Bollinger Family
-The "Gordon" Family ties back to a previous mayor of the city and now a mult-million dollar mansion housing tract in the Glendora Foothills. -There is a school called "Whitcomb" and a street but beyond that I dont know the significance. I cant find much more info on the other families listed above. Bruce12 22:52, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Glendora's a good city?
For decades, Glendora had alot of bad news for crime waves, poverty rates and smog hangs over longer than anywhere in L.A. county. In 1990, Glendora earned the title being "the smoggiest city in America", when airquality goes above unhalthful for 254 days a year (65 days-very unhealthful, 30 days-hazardous for all persons). Time magazine had a small paragraph on Glendora on its' Nov. 25, 1991 issue: California: the endangered dream for high levels of air pollution trapped by wind patterns and the area is like a micro-climate to develop more smog than downtown L.A. Glendora was "the white trash capital of California", a misleading nomer of a place full of trailer parks and low-income whites, Glendora fits a stereotype of middle-class suburbs overrab by urban blight in the 1990s. Glendora, like Simi Valley made negative headlines for being "predominantly white" communities, maybe the L.A. media painted a picture of rednecks, klansmen and neo-Nazis in charge of the Glendora city council. (Simi Valley held the 1992 Rodney King trial, because the state judicial system wanted a 90% white community). And the old route 66 (Foothill Boulevard) is a swanky, trendy, gentrified area today, but some locals recall after the highway was decommissioned in 1976, Glendora felt the impact of decreased economic activity and socioeconomic issues that build up in the 1980s and '90s. Look, the city has recovered from a bad image and publicity, Glendora is like every place in Southern California. I think the home values (now the average price is $450,000) that doubled in six years indicate otherwise, Glendora isn't full of trailer parks or "white trash" people. +207.200.116.74 15:29, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Seal glendora ca.png
Image:Seal glendora ca.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
