Glenn Poorman (born 1962 in Detroit, Michigan) is a multi-instrumentalist residing in southeast Michigan. Glenn's main instrument is the Chapman Stick but he also plays piano, guitar, bass and synthesizers. Currently Glenn performs with the band Coup Detroit as well as performing as a solo artist.
Glenn spent most of his young life as a saxophone student studying in Allen Park, Michigan and at the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan. In 1980, Glenn started playing guitar and bass. From 1982-1984, Glenn was the lead guitarist and one of the primary song writers of the group Conditioned Response. Since 1992, Glenn has been a member of the Detroit area group Coup Detroit starting off playing keyboards and guitar later moving to bass and Stick. From 1982 to present day, Glenn has also composed and recorded his own music under the name of his studio project 121normal.
Glenn started playing the Chapman Stick in 1999. In the years that followed, he became an organizer for the annual Midwest Stick Seminar. The MSS has been an annual event since 1999 bringing students of the instrument from all corners of the country together to study with some of the world's top players. In early 2002, Glenn also took over the website for Stick Enterprises helping to completely re-design their web presence and has taken on the duties of co-webmaster ever since. In 2007, Glenn released his first CD under the 121normal name. The work was self-titled and all of the parts were performed by Glenn except for the vocal tracks performed by Marykay Blitz and Julie Marcos. The CD was co-produced, mixed and mastered by Greg Howard.
