Glasgow Airport Link is an airport bus which also loops through the centre of the city in Glasgow, Scotland. This service provides a direct connection to the airport for hotels, tourist destinations, shopping areas, convention and conference facilities, the bus terminal and numerous other locations, in contrast to the Glasgow Flyer which is designed to provide a direct express service between the city's transportation hubs.

[edit] History
Starting in 1991, Fairline Coaches originally operated a route 905 bus service to Glasgow Airport under contract to Scottish Citylink.[1] All of the buses were in the Scottish Citylink yellow and blue colours, although the timetable stated that sometimes buses in Fairline's livery may be used. Some journeys were run by Arriva Scotland West.
In 2007, the service was replaced by the Arriva operated Glasgow Flyer, which was was announced on 1 June that year, with a start date of 9th July, and subsequently route 905 was withdrawn. [2]
Since then, Fairline Coaches have revived an their airport service, and it is now run independently, again using the route number 905. This is the Glasgow Airport Link.
[edit] Vehicles used
The service is operated by a fleet of Optare Solos. These vary in age, but most are newer models; most of them were also used on Fairline's share of the previous route 905, and have been repainted silver.
[edit] Route
The basic daytime frequency of the service is every 20 minutes. The first journey starts at 05:50, and the route ends at 23:59. In Glasgow City Centre, the route follows a "loop", connecting various parts, and special fares are available on this section. On average, journeys take 35 minutes towards the city centre, and slightly less on their return, due to the one-way system. This is over 15 minutes longer than the more direct Glasgow Flyer. The route is as follows: [3]

Notes: Due to closure of the Glasgow Arc bridge, there is no service to Govan, The Science Centre or Govan Bus Station
[edit] Fares
The service has a number of different fares available, more than a standard bus service would. Due to the route's current diversion (see above), some are not available. Concessionary fare pass holders can travel free.[4]
The biggest standard fare charged is travelling between the airport and the SECC or Glasgow City Centre, or in the opposite direction. Standard fares that cannot be purchased due to the diversion of the route are between the airport and Govan, and the airport and the Science Centre.
There are two unusual ticket types. The City Centre Loop, which covers the stops the route takes on its route around Glasgow City Centre; and (similarly to the Glasgow Flyer) 10 journey tickets, which provide a reduced price for ten journeys rather than buying ten separate tickets.
