Giuliano Belotti

Giuliano Belotti was born in Bergamo, Italy in 1974 and started his musical study at the age of eight. Later, he studied for ten years under the mentorship of Giorgio Oltremari who had a particularly strong influence on his musical education. He graduated from the [Conservatory “Gaetano Donizetti”] with a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance, receiving his final diploma with highest honors. During his study at Bergamo, Giuliano Belotti performed in many master classes given by David Russell, Alirio Diaz and Tilman Hoppstock.

A recipient of a full scholarship (Jan And Bertha Werter Scholarship, Hayes Ludlam Memorial Scholarship, Satterthwaite Scholarship Award and Elizabeth And Joseph Brenner Scholarship) at The Juilliard School of Music from 1999 to 2001, Belotti worked under the tutelage of the eminent classical guitarist [Sharon Isbin]. Furthermore, in 1997 he was awarded the Diplôme Supérieur d'Exécution, 'à l'unanimité' of the jury, at the Alfred Cortot Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. At the time, he studied under the guidance of the celebrated maestro Alberto Ponce who described Belotti as "a guitarist endowed with great musical finesse."

Composers like, Marcel Khalifé, Ricardo Llorca and Simone Iannarelli have dedicated to him some of their own compositions.

Giuliano Belotti has given numerous recitals at prestigious concert halls spanning Asia, Europe, the United States and México. Since 1992, he has played in Weill Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York City; the Manuel De Falla Auditorium in Seville; the Salle Cortot in Paris; the Teatro Gaetano Donizetti in Italy, Manuel De Falla Auditorium in Seville, the Teatro de la República and the Teatro Juárez in Mexico, and in the DBS Auditorium in Singapore.

Belotti has also played in many musical seasons such as the Società del Quartetto in Italy, the Focus Festival and in NYFOS [www.nyfos.org] in New York City, the Musek am Syrdall Festival in Luxembourg, the Festival Iberoamericano de las Artes [www.festiberoamericano.gobierno.pr] in Puerto Rico, the [Barcelona Festival of Song] 2005 in Spain. He has played with several orchestras such as the Czech National Orchestra [www.cnso.cz] and the Young Symphony Orchestra of Texas.

In addition, he has released two recordings by M.A.P. in Milan. The first one, "Alma del Sur" is a solo guitar program featuring works by Spanish and South American composers including works by Rodrigo, Albéniz, Gismonti, Barrios and Dyens.

His recent album, "Hawa" is a duo with the Cuban percussionist Armando Cornell, and features works by composers including Marcel Khalifé,Carlos Jobim, Django Reinhardt, Ariel Ramírez and Belotti´s own original compositions.

More than two hundred thousands people watched his performance of El Concierto de Aranjuez made at Donizetti Theatre in Italy with Czech National Orchestra [www.cnso.cz] this event on the Italian TV channel “Bergamo TV”. He is currently working on his next album, which will feature the Integral of Lute and Mandolin Concertos of Antonio Vivaldi, arranged for guitar by Giuliano Belotti.
