Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read the simplified ruleset. Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using four tildes (~). If your keyboard doesn't have tildes (or for whatever reason) you can also click the Image:Wikisigbutton.png button on the bar above the editing section.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.

Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
