It is the story of Bridget White, whose parents run an illegal imports business, and whose older brother Gavin is in jail on a shoplifting charge. Bridget’s parents have sent her to an exclusive boarding school in the belief that it will give her opportunities they didn’t have, and so she will not be like them– but as Bridget makes clear, she wants to end up like them.
