[edit] 63 game unbeaten streak
I've seen a list of the ten longest unbeaten college football streaks in a sports almanac from about ten years ago that confirms Washington's 63 game unbeaten streak as being the longest . . . if I still had the almanac, I'd have used that reference as a citation. I would think that current versions of the sports almanac still have a listing of the top unbeaten streaks, so perhaps someone else can replace the link reference with a book citation. At any rate, here's a list of the top five culled from a Google Groups posting (it does jibe with my recollection):
| School | Years | No. | Record | Spoiler | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Washington | 1907-17 | 63 | 59-0-4 | California | 27-0 |
| Michigan | 1901-05 | 56 | 55-0-1 | Chicago | 2-0 |
| California | 1920-25 | 50 | 46-0-4 | Olympic | 15-0 |
| Oklahoma | 1953-57 | 48 | 47-0-1 | NotreDame | 7-0 |
| Yale | 1885-89 | 48 | 47-0-1 | Princeton | 10-0 |
