Ghastboat (2006) is a British film based on a novel by George E. Simpson and Neal R. Burger starring David Jason - a fantasy tale of a submarine resurfacing 40 years after it was thought to have sank, only it has no crew and appears not to have aged.

[edit] Plot

David Jason plays the only surviving member of the original crew and is accompanied by one of the submarine's builders. Upon re-entering his former Vessel, Jason soon becomes haunted by past memories of his former fellow sailors.

The new crew start out on the same voyage that took place on the night of its sinking to try and find out what actually happened to it. Once in the Baltic, ghosts of the dead sailors once on board possess the current crew and strange things start happening: one being two German anti-submarine bombers who try to destroy the submarine.

The captain of the modern day crew is shot and a new person takes over. This person becomes possessed by the former captain himself. Jason manages to un-possess the modern day crew but goes back down for the captain. The ship's original voyage was to torpedo the German city of Königsberg (now the city of Kaliningrad in Russia). Jason manages to stop the captain from attacking but is shot in the process. The torpedo room explodes and she ship sinks to the bottom. Jason dies on his bunk clutching a picture of his wife when the water surrounds him.
