Gheorghe Ghimpu

Gheorghe Ghimpu (1937-2000) was a Moldovan politician and a political prisonier in the former Soviet Union.

He took part in the Moldovan national movement and was a supporter of the independence of the Moldavian SSR from Soviet Union.

He spent several years in Gulag, as result of his political activities.

He was member of the Moldovan parliament (1990-1994).

He died in an unclarified traffic accident, possible staged for political reasons[1].
