I just looked at the site and noticed that it contained just 2 projects... Is it really necessary to have an article about it? Or does this have other reasons? --Stefan Kögl 19:14, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

The point of GForge is not to be a hosting alternative to SourceForge, but as a 'hosting platform' alternative to the now-closed source Sourceforge codebase. --LodeRunner 19:56, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Well GForge the software is pretty useful, even if GForge the website is only hosting itself. It might also be useful as support to SourceForge and GNU Savannah pages which would red-link it otherwise. And we have pages for plenty of less-capable pieces of software.

I didn't notice that when I created the page actually, so I probably put undue emphasis on the website, thinking that it was hosting the same sorts of things as Savannah. Ojw 20:15, 18 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Perdue did a closed rewrite, same as VA?

If the page is going to continue having a snarky comment about VA closing SourceForge (and doing a rewrite in Java), it would be appropriate to also mention that Mr. Purdue (who leaves the comment about VA closing their source on the gforge.org project page) is selling his own closed rewrite...

The page no longer has a "snarky comment" that I can see, and the closedness of GForge AS is mentioned. 151.203.203.100 05:18, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
