[edit] List of members of the Maryland House of Delegates
Hey, very nice job on the List of members of the Maryland House of Delegates page!! If I were an administrator I would give you one of those star-things.Marylandstater 20:17, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you want me to, I will take the rest of the House members from PG county and start articles on them during the up coming week. That will still leave most of the Senate (and that really cool table you made).Marylandstater 21:33, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am done for today, only 29 red links left.Marylandstater 22:47, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, all of Prince Georges County is done, plus I fixed the disambg on Peter Murphy and created a page for him. Anything else?Marylandstater 17:09, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey! we did it!! congratulations on all the hard work. Marylandstater 03:29, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Johannes Rebmann
Thanks for giving me a chance and putting this article on Hold. The fact is, you didnt. Please go to the GA Candidates page and look at how to put an article on Hold status. Thanks, -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 22:31, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. Thanks for this chance. I have already implemented an infobox and changed some grammar. Sources are proving hard to find, but all the same. Regards, Anonymous DissidentTalk 11:22, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. Take a look now. Give me your comments. If its not satisfactory - dont fail it, give me the three remaining days I still have on the hold. Thanks, Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:06, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Right. I understand your points about the foundation, but wouldnt you agree such a concern is only adequately based for pieces of text that cite Rebmann's "progress in Africa" or his "historical significance' etc? I mean, it should be fine to cite such a foundation for pieces of information such as "Rebmann lived in a Swabian village" because thats citing a fact, and is in no way making Rebmann seem good. Would you agree with that? If you do, then I would be happy to find sources for those special pieces of text which seem to make Rebmann seem "good" (as such) and remove any of the latter information for which sources cannot be found. I just think that it is unreasonable to suggest that the source is not verifiable at all, even for mundane pieces of information. Regards, Anonymous DissidentTalk 22:12, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. Take a look now. Give me your comments. If its not satisfactory - dont fail it, give me the three remaining days I still have on the hold. Thanks, Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:06, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks a lot. I will consider your thoughts, and continue to improve the article, even after it has been promoted. So...can I feel free to promote it myself, or will you go ahead to do the honours? Thanks again, Anonymous DissidentTalk 02:03, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Gerald. Keep up your hard work in GA areas. Anonymous DissidentTalk 12:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Be careful with images
Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed you have been adding some images to the List of Governors of Maryland, which you are tagging as PD-US because they are from the Maryland Archives. Not all images from the Archives are PD. Some of the paintings of governors, even some that have been dead for quite a while, have only been done recently, i.e. in the 1970s. I've gone through and checked some of your images, but, for future reference, be sure to check when the artist died, and make sure it wasn't within the past 70 years. Also, Image:Henry Lloyd Maryland.jpg was painted in 1939, so I've tagged it as unlicensed. Thanks. --Tom (talk - email) 22:28, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I added a fair use rationale
I added a fair use rationale to Image:Taneytown seal.gif. You might want to add a similar fair use rationale to the other seals or logos that you have uploaded recently so that another editor won't delete them. --Eastmain 03:55, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of Governor's color coding
Note that the color coding at List of Governors of Maryland is the standard that has been used here for quite a long time. I'm not sure what Circeus is complaining about, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. --Tom (talk - email) 04:27, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- I understand that. However, some concerns expressed by people have to be taken with a grain of salt, especially considering this is a very widely used color scheme. Its not as if featured lists don't use this color scheme; List of Presidents of the United States does, for example. --Tom (talk - email) 04:37, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA review of George W. Johnson (Civil War)
Thanks for your helpful GA review of George W. Johnson (Civil War), especially in light of the nasty little sock puppet incident. I've tried to address the issues you raised. Please comment on the talk page if you feel that further improvements are needed. BTW, I hope that this article, along with Richard Hawes (currently a GA nom) and Confederate government of Kentucky (hopefully an FA nom this week) will eventually form a featured topic. Any comments or suggestions you could provide that would help me reach that goal would be appreciated as well. Acdixon 15:39, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] GA review of Governor of Maryland
Thanks for getting back to me! And THANK YOU for the hardwork put in to this article. The main problem with this article was the flow and organization. All the info under Functions and Responsibilites was mixed up and in an difficult to read order. I began fixing some of it but i figure, you've put the work in to, so craft it the way you'd like. Take in to consideration what I have done so far. Also, there is one or two things that needs to be cited and those have been marked. What I meant about the footnote, is that footnote reference number 3 was reference 10 times in the article all leading to the same page with a bunch of links. I was asking if you would go through the links, find the specific page with the info you are looking for and link each reference to a specific page. Thanks again! Alex 23:42, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Gerald! Please, I would like to have your expert opinion on this list, if you could: List of sister cities in Florida. Just a quick look before I bother people on FLC. :-)--Legionarius 10:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- That's an impressive list. Only thing I noticed is the one missing citation (Canaveral-Ithaca). When I put Sister Cities in Maryland up, I was asked to have a citation for each and every entry. Geraldk 10:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you! Ithaca came as part of the general reference, but I will add a specific one as well. Plus of course you noticed that I copycat your list. :-)--Legionarius 11:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Timing
Today there is a note in the Wikipedia:Community Portal asking people to come to FLC because of a lack of reveiwers. I had no idea that the system is run on a time period instead of a threshold of having enough people look at it. I had the imppresion it wa backlogged because of not enough reviewers. I normally just do peer reviews and don't comment on featuring (except for a few articles I have gotten attached to at peer review). I would never have commented on any lists at FLC if not for request at the community portal and it was not done with the attention of upsetting you or making things difficult for you. I am sorry if it has done so, but I think my concerns were both valid and important enough to warrant opposing.--BirgitteSB 03:07, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Geraldk, I've added a comment over on Birgitte's talk page. Hope that helps. Colin°Talk 11:03, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tables at WP:FLC
Geraldk,
I noticed the little tables you've added to the noms. I've no strong opinions about them—if they help editors and the closing editor then that's good. But can I suggest you rename "Current vote" to "Opinion". It is a common mistake to think that FLC is a vote that one can add up. Rather, it is based on consensus and a minimum level of support, and a single well-reasoned Oppose could fail a list that had 10 supports from fans, for example. I'm sure you already understand this but I think we need to be extra clear with the text we use. Cheers, Colin°Talk 08:43, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hey there. I was thinking the exact same thing, but Colin beat me to it :) Fvasconcellos (t·c) 14:28, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Geraldk, It is a good idea to use the Edit summary religiously. Your addition to Wikipedia talk:Featured list candidates may well have gone unnoticed in people's watchlist because: a) You didn't use the [+] button, but merely extended the previous discussion b) You didn't supply any edit summary. Have a look at the history page to see the effect.
I'm interested in seeing other people's opinions, before I give mine. Colin°Talk 18:50, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FL Main page proposal
You either nominated a WP:FLC or closed such a nomination recently. As such, you are the type of editor whose opinion I am soliciting. We now have over 400 featured lists and seem to be promoting in excess of 30 per month of late (41 in August and 42 in September). When Today's featured article (TFA) started (2004-02-22), they only had about 200 featured articles and were barely promoting 20 new ones per month. I think the quality of featured lists is at least as good as the quality of featured articles was when they started appearing on the main page. Thus, I am ready to open debate on a proposal to institute a List of the Day on the main page with nominations starting November 1, 2007, voting starting December 1, 2007 and main page appearances starting January 1, 2008. For brevity, the proposal page does not discuss the details of eventual main page content, but since the work has already been done, you should consider this proposal assuming the eventual content will resemble the current content at the featured content page. Such output would probably start at the bottom of the main page. The proposal page does not debate whether starting with weekly list main page entries would be better than daily entries. However, I suspect persons in favor of weekly lists are really voicing opinions against lists on the main page since neither TFA nor Picture of the day started as weekly endeavors, to the best of my knowledge. Right now debate seems to be among support for the current selective democratic/consensus based proposal, a selective dictatorial approach like that used at WP:TFA or a non-selective first in line/calendar approach like that used at WP:POTD. See the List of the Day proposal and comment at WP:LOTDP and its talk page.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 18:45, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Current members of the Maryland House of Delegates
I noticed that you have done a lot of work on the above list. I also noticed pictures of the Delegates on the side(in fact I have added several recently, but have about 2 dozen more). Take a look at Baltimore City Delegation and tell me, if we had pictures of all the delegates, would you mind them being imbedded like, in the latter list, rather than listed outside the box down the side? 1msulax 12:18, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notice to all members of WikiProject Maryland
There are a few things going on right now in WikiProject Maryland that I thought all members should know about, especially the first one.
- Not too long ago, Marylandstater raised the question of exactly how many members of the project are still active. For this reason, I'm asking everyone who is still active, and wants to remain in the project, to put an asterisk (*) after their username on the project's participants list. You have until the end of November 17, 2007 to do so, sometime after that, all the names that do not have an asterisk will be removed. This is just to clean up the ever expanding list. If you've been gone and come back to find that you've been removed from the list, don't take it personally, just re-add yourself! I won't feel bad at all if no one gets removed, in fact, it would be nice if all 30 members still consider themselves active. Also, this won't affect the two subprojects, but speaking of the subprojects...
- As of sometime next week WikiProject Baltimore City College will be no more. Myself, Golem88991, and John Carter have decided to make it into a task force of WikiProject Maryland. If you have any objections, concerns, or comments, please post them in the talk page topic concerning this.
Now for the exiting news:
- I'm pleased to announce the creation of the Baltimore Task Force! Those interested in contributing to Wikipedia's numerous articles related to Maryland's largest city, now have a place to collaborate.
- I'd also like to take this time to propose a project newsletter. Any comments should be directed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Maryland#Newsletter.
A couple last things:
- The portal is in desperate need of maintenance, anyone who's interested, go check it out.
- It's probably a good idea to add the project page (and thus the project talk page) to your watchlist. That way, you can easily see when new comments are posted.
I hope you read through all that ;). Thanks to all members for your contributions to the project's articles so far, let's keep up the good work!
Sincerely, -Jeff (talk) 05:52, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Featured List of the Day Experiment
I am contacting individuals in the order of the number of featured lists that they had created by Novemeber 10, 2007. You are among those who have created the most. So you are among the first. There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 16:48, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
