[edit] Name

"reitpony" doesn't appear to be the normal name in English (see [1] vs [2]), perhaps the article should be moved to "German Riding Pony" with a disambiguation/redirect from "reitpony"? – Zedla (talk) 08:48, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I did create a redirect at German riding pony. Basically, I've never heard of any in the USA. I know that some horse breeds keep their foreign name here, such as the Selle Francais. Probably not a huge issue either way. I basically grabbed the article in German wikipedia, ran it through Google translation to get the gist of it and then edited it into something approaching readable form. (Had to cut a lot about the competition elements, the translation made no sense due to the terms of art used). I'll dig around and see if I can find any English sources on it. Maybe leave it like this for a couple days to see what shakes out? Another editor may be able to help too, we shall see. Montanabw(talk) 08:58, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. You may be right. Looks like there have been some imports to the USA and they are using the English name. I can redirect and add some English sources. One good article in the bunch, most of the rest were advertising. Montanabw(talk) 09:02, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
It's no big deal to me either way. There's one link in there claiming the international breed name is G.R.P. [3] (potential source for the article too) – Zedla (talk) 09:07, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Works for me. Too bad that link provides so little info, good photos, though. Montanabw(talk) 09:30, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
