For the actress, see Gertrude Hoffman.
Gertrude Hay Hoffman (born Kitty Hayes) was an early 20th-century vaudeville dancer and choreographer.[1]
Hoffman was well-known for her roles as Salome, but her performances were eventually stopped due to the "indecent" dancing involved. For a brief period in her career, Gertrude did impersonations of various other performers, such as comedian Eddie Foy and actress Ethel Barrymore. The Hoffman Glide, a social dance, was named after her.[2][1]
