Gerry Hambling (b. 1926, Croydon, Surrey, England) is a British film editor whose work is credited on 49 films; he has also worked as a sound editor and a television editor. In 1976, Hambling began working with the director Alan Parker, and has edited most of Parker's films.[1] Hambling's editing has been honored by three BAFTA Awards for Best Editing. These awards were for The Commitments, Mississippi Burning, and Midnight Express, which were all directed by Parker. In addition, Hambling has been nominated for the BAFTA award for three additional films, and he has been nominated six times for the Academy Award for Film Editing. In 1998, Hambling was honored by the American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award.[1]
