Gerard Noel (admiral)

Admiral of the Fleet Sir Gerard Henry Uctred Noel GCB, KCMG (5 March 1845 - 23 May 1918) was a Royal Navy officer.
Born at Stanhoe, Norfolk, Noel joined the Royal Navy at the age of 14 served until he attained the highest rank of the service.
In 1898, Noel led a force to Crete to take part in punitive operations after a massacre of Christians. [1]
He was ADC to Queen Victoria from 1894 to 96.
He is buried in the churchyard of St Martin's, Fincham, Norfolk
