The first reign of George Vth the Brilliant can only be some month in the years 1297/98 because coins of Vakhtang IIIrd are minted from 1298 to 1308 by the mint of Tbilisi. See Pakhomov and Kapanadze. In 1297 the brother of George, David VIIIth was dethroned by the Il-Khan, Ghazan and the grandfather of George, Beka Jakeli (1285-1308) brought him to Tbilisi (Nov 1297??)
