[edit] Career
Info on his career needs to be expanded. Players who have been in the league as long as Jenkins have a much more expansive article. Miles Blues 20:43, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] July 31st HR
This article needs to be expanded, and a walk-off HR is not a common occurrence, and deserves mention, which is why I edited into the article. Miles Blues 20:45, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that the article needs to be expanded, but not with what amounts to little more than trivia. With all due respect, a walk-off home run is not a big deal. Is this event something that the reader will care about in a month? A year? Ten years? The answer to all three, I think, is no. If they were a big deal, then the other ones he has hit would have already been mentioned in the article. That they are not speaks volumes about the purported notability of these events. This is one hit in one regular season game, not Kirk Gibson hitting a walk off in the World Series. --Beaker342 22:08, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- No, it's not the Gibson HR, but if there's a couple highlights from each season, that'd be appropriate. Miles Blues 03:23, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- That may be appropriate if done correctly, but right now it seems woefully out of place. The carrer section reads as a short narrative of significant career events: first at bat, All Star appearance, horrific injury, and demotion. The HR reference at the end doesn't fit that narrative because it doesn't fit the wide-angle perspective of that narrative. I'm taking it out until a more balanced solution can be found. Just like you, I'm concerned about the quality of the article, but I don't feel the information added increases its quality. --Beaker342 14:01, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that it's out of place... but we can either keep the article in its sorry state, or try to start somewhere to improve it. Miles Blues 14:47, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
