Georgy Boos

Georgy Valentinovich Boos (in Russian: Георгий Валентинович Боос, b. January 22, 1963, in Moscow, Soviet Union) is a Russian businessman and politician, the governor of Kaliningrad Oblast.

In 1995 – 1998, 1999 – 2005, he was a deputy of the State Duma, a vice-speaker (December 29, 2003, - September 21, 2005). Boos is known as a close ally to Moscow major Yuri Luzhkov. He was a member of centrist Fatherland party led by Luzhkov, since it merged with Unity party he became a member of United Russia.

From September 29 till December 23, 1998 he was the Chairman of the State Tax Service of Russia, from December 23 till May 25, 1999, as the service had become a ministry, the Minister of Taxes.

On September 14, 2005 he was proposed by President Vladimir Putin to the Kaliningrad Oblast legislature as a governor of Kaliningrad Oblast and was approved soon after this.
