The George Washington Union is a mixed (meaning it accepts both men and women) association of Masonic Grand Lodges based in New York. It was founded on 16 August 1977. A charter was granted on that day by the Grand Orient de France, which was confirmed in September 1978. [1]

They are a member of the international association of (self described) "Liberal masonic" jurisdictions, CLIPSAS. The George Washington Union is considered irregular by the United Grand Lodge of England and most other Anglo-Saxon Grand Lodges.
