George Frost (cricketer)

George Frost (October 16, 1848 — February 12, 1913) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1872 and 1880. Frost was born in, and died in Wirksworth, living to the age of 64.

Frost played his first match for Derbyshire in 1872, against Lancashire, against whom the team suffered an innings defeat, in spite of the bowling efforts of former Marylebone Cricket Club roundarm master John Platts. Frost spent a year out of the game before playing in nine matches out of ten in which Derbyshire played between 1874 and 1875.

Frost's form continued into the late 1870s - Frost scored one half-century for the Derbyshire team, against Hampshire in 1876. Though he played for two further years beyond this, he spent a year out of the game, and failed to recapture this form upon his return in 1880, at which point he exited the team.

Frost's brother, John, 21 months his senior, also played first-class cricket for Derbyshire.
