Geoffrey Shindler

Geoffrey Shindler OBE is a UK (England and Wales) solicitor specialising in the field of Wills, Trusts and Estates law. He is a graduate (with first class honours) of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University (having been a W.M. Tapp scholar) and qualified as a solicitor in 1969.[1] He is recognised as a leader in the profession within his specialty.[2][3] He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to the administration of justice in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2007.[4]
He is a member of the editorial board of the Wills and Trusts Law Reports[5] and Tottel's Trust Law International and Consulting Editor of the Trusts and Estates Law and Tax Journal.[6]
One of the founding members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), he was appointed president of STEP worldwide in November 2006. He is a former chairman of the organisation.[1]
He is chairman of Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre Development Committee,[7] a committee member of the Lancashire County Cricket Club,[8] and chairman of Manchester Camerata board of directors.[9] He is also a member of the Board of Advisors of the International Compliance Association.
In April 2006 Shindler left Manchester-based law firm Halliwells LLP, after 20 years' with the firm, to establish a new firm in partnership with Roger Lane-Smith, former Senior Partner of DLA Piper. The new firm, Lane-Smith & Shindler LLP, opened on 2 May 2006.[10]
He is the father of British television producer Nicola Shindler and brother of the novelist and scholar Colin Shindler.
