General Directory for Catechesis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The General Directory for Catechesis is a document approved, written and produced by the Congregation for the Clergy of the Roman Catholic Church, based in Rome.

Following the publication of the General Catechetical Directory in 1971, the church realised the importance of a wealth of new information, and so in 1997 the first edition of the General Directory for Catechesis was produced.

The document largely discusses the practical, theoretical, contextual and importance of catechesis and evangelism. Its readership is amongst both the clergy and the lay catechist.
