Talk:Gelato (software)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

somebody should update it accordingly to :http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/05/02/gelato_2_free/ - nvidia offers gelato for free

I was about to post that same thing! Bourgeoisdude 16:25, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

I feel the tone of the first two paragraphs is far too colloquial. I've marked this page as requiring cleanup Hertzsprung 21:56, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Brain behind the moon

NVIDIA quickly acquires the brain behind the moon ... is this right?? Seems like vandalism to me? Gnorn 23:16, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gelato_%28software%29&oldid=57949741 it happened in this revision.. may be, may be not vandalism, I don't know English so well, maybe it's some phrase. But as far as I think, it is not suitable for WP. --Sedimin 07:24, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
I've been bold and taken it out - I'm a native english speaker (from the UK) and I've never heard this phrase. Ruaraidh-dobson 12:02, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't believe that was vandalism. The sentence only makes sense if you are aware of the backstory of Gelato. The person might well have meant NVIDIA's acquisition of Exluna, which was the developer ("the brain behind") of Blue Moon Rendering Tools ("moon") (well, was that a riddling sentence...). I added a link to it, along with two other GPU based renderer I am aware of. -- Ylai 00:35, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cost

Is this webpage facts or advertising? You can state that the renderer is free or costs XX dollars. Comparing it to the prices of other renderers is not what Wikipedia is about. Please correct.

In fact it's more expensive, Brazil and Vray round around $600 per node and Mental Ray i was unable to find information about the cost but 3dstudio max ($3500) give 8 free nodes = $435 x node. --Magallanes 21:24, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Gelato newlogo.jpg

Image:Gelato newlogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
