Geats (Norse Gautar. Modern Swedish: Götar) are the people from the ancient Kingdom(s) of Gautland (English: Geatland). Though modern Geats are Swedes, the word Götar (English: Geat) can be used to describe an inhabitant of the traditional provinces that once made up Gautland (Västergötland, Östergötland and Småland are three of them).
