[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:HMS Jersey (F72).jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:HMS Jersey (F72).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:24, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Year page formatting of multiple events

Hello, I'm sending you this message since you were involved in the August 2005 survey on year pages. As I don't know if you've gathered, somebody has been fighting for a change to the house style on how to notate multiple events on the same date. A discussion is currently in progress - your contribution would be appreciated! -- Smjg (talk) 15:36, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scharnhorst & Gneisenau

I have opened an RfC on whether to refer to these ships as battleships or battlecruisers. Since you have participated in this debate previously, please have a look, read the debate, and make your views known: Talk:Scharnhorst_class_battlecruiser#Request_for_Comment:_Battleships_or_Battlecruisers.3F The Land (talk) 18:48, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Turing, Wolfram, Smith

Thanks for your note at the Wolfram (2,3) talk page; I replied there. We had had quite a knock-down, drag-out debate at the time of the press-release (and Slashdotting), which has simmered down to a level more appropriate for mathematicians :-) So thanks for discussing stuff before making sweeping changes. I'm sure we have room for improvement and I agree that the presentation of Pratt's objections is too low-key. Pete St.John (talk) 16:58, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Template:List of dreadnought battleships of the Royal Navy

A tag has been placed on Template:List of dreadnought battleships of the Royal Navy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{tranclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Thanks. --MZMcBride (talk) 04:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bot activity

I was going over the list of bots and noticed that Gdrbot (talk · contribs) has not edited in a very long time. Is this bot still active and if not, would you object to it being de-flagged? Please post your comments to Wikipedia_talk:Bots/Requests_for_approval#Dead_bots since this is a rather widely-posted message. MBisanz talk 06:33, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CfD nomination of Category:Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:HMS Courageous (50).jpg

A tag has been placed on Image:HMS Courageous (50).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. BJTalk 12:32, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
