I did a google search and found the following numbers:

(1) Gavriil Popov - 20,300 hits

(2) Gavril Popov - 11,800

Given that all of the first page of "Gavriil Popov" matches related to the composer, and that the first match for "Gavril Popov" related to a (living) Mayor of Moscow, it would probably be better if this article were to be renamed as "Gavriil Popov", especially as the symphonies currently in print all use the spelling "Gavriil".
