From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cicero's Pizza is a small but popular pizza parlor in San Jose, California. Originally established in the 1960s in Cupertino, California, by Nunzio Cicero, an Italian immigrant from New York. Cicero's has been one of the most popular and highest rated pizza establishments in Silicon Valley since its inception. Cicero's specializes in New York style thin crust pizza. They were originally located on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road on the land of an old grainery. Later during the 1990's, it would move east along Stevens Creek Blvd to the corner of Blaney Avenue to a smaller location that had formerly been a cocktail lounge.
Cicero's closed in 2001 and the founder passed away[1]. The establishment was reopened in the summer of 2002, by the founder's son in law, Bob LeVerdi, a few miles away in San Jose, California just across the city line from Cupertino. The new resturant is much larger then either of the previous two establishments, which were both smaller and poorly kept in comparison. The new location was opened in a former Round Table Pizza resturant that had since been abandoned by that chain.[2]
According to the owners of Cicero's only 3 people currently have full knowledge of Nunzio Cicero's original pizza recipe.
[edit] Apple Computers
During the late 1970's and early 1980's Cicero's was often patronized by employees of then up and coming computer maker Apple Computer, including Andy Hertzfeld a key designer of the Macintosh and Mac OS.[3][4]
