The Gattermann reaction is the formylation of an aromatic ring with Zn(CN)2 + HCl (or HCN + HCl + Lewis acid), which forms an imine intermediate which is hydrolyzed to an aldehyde. ChristianB 22:20, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
