[edit] Name

So, where does Gateway come from, exactly? Is the term derived from the Gateway National Recreation Area?--Pharos 03:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Good question. The park appears to have been established in 1972, so that would seem a likely choice. The notion of the region being home/point of arrival for many who immigranted to the USA via the NY/NJ would infer the idea of the entrance to America, it's gateway... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Djflem (talkcontribs) 02:26, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Borders

As described by the NJ Dept of Tourism the Gateway Region actually only includes Passaic, Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Union, and Middlesex counties. Inclusion of PARTS of other counties, or the area extending into 25 mile radius (from the Empire State bldg or Times Square) FEELS logical, should they be included in this article? And if indeed they do, what places in them should be? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Djflem (talkcontribs) 11:25, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
