Talk:Gate Church of the Trinity (Pechersk Lavra)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have failed this for GA status (it's been on the nomination list long enough) because I just don't get the feeling it's comprehensive enough. This church has stood for nearly a millenium ... surely it has more history than three paragraphs worth? Certainly not when the intro promises "... [it has] been reconstructed many times through its history." For an article about a building/structure it is essential to have this (see Winchester Cathedral, which at least has a little more).
I'd also like to see a citation for: "Mykola spent 36 years as a monk, and founded the Monastery Hospital of the Trinity within the Lavra." Also, "... the overall visual uplifting effect created a heightened sense of spiritual power" and "The initial ascetic appearance was replaced with an intricate and fanciful baroque style" need to be cited if they are someone's opinion, rewritten to be less subjective, or taken out entirely if they can't. We do not make such aesthetic judgements in articles, not by ourselves. Daniel Case 20:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
