[edit] Lake Macquarie Lightning Indoor Sports Association
Gateshead Indoor Sports World is the Home of the Lake Macquarie Lightning [1]. The Association was started in the 1990s by local sports enthusiasts and parents of young athletes to fill a void in indoor sporting facilities in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia. It provides basketball, Indoor cricket, Netball and is also home to the Lakeside Gymnastics Academy. Lake Macquarie Lightning has produced many successful basketball teams and individuals who have represented their state and nationally. Lake Macquarie Lightning club competitions include Juniors, Seniors and Mixed Social Competitions. The association has recently stepped back into the representative arena to produce more future prospects in local basketball, their Representative teams compete in The Central Junior League under the auspices of Basketball New South Wales[2] or BNSW. The centre provides services for Lake Macquarie City Council[3] with limited support from that body.
