Gary Nathan Lee

Gary Lee (born Gary Nathan Lee on September 5, 1950, in Brooklyn,New York) is an American musician known for his work in the R&B and gospel genres.

During the 1980s, he was the co-lead vocalist and keyboard player for Equal Solution. As a soloist, he made several recordings, including “I Believe” (recorded on his solo album) and “Miss Single Mom"

In the early 60's Gary met singers Ted grant and Joseph Wilson at Jerusalem Baptist Church. They all became good friends, and started a vocal group,The Tandells.

Shortly after,in High School, while still active with the Tandells,he joined a group called "Robert Singleton and the Babylonians" in which he played rhytmn guitar. His life drastically changed when the band had a talent show at Sequoia High School, that they where a sure chance to win, except their lead guitar player,Eugene Hudson, did not show up! Gary had to sing Eugenes parts,as well as attempt to play his parts, which was quite a struggle, not being the accomplished musician that Eugene was! They took second place, and Gary gave the guitar up!
After that,Gary went back to singing a capella with the Tandells. They did many shows, including opening up for Graham Central Station at Deanza College.
Music was changing, rap had not caught on yet,and club owners wanted bands that could sing more than they wanted just singing groups. So Gary started play keyboards, hooked up with Merle (Jakouba) Brown on bass,Teddy and Joe as front men, along with Roy Earls,a childhood friend from Jerusalem Baptist, and formed the group Mystical minds.
After Mystical Minds disbanded in the late 60's they all met Anthony Simon (T.S.),Larry Geddins (Drums),and Mike Rosenbaum (Bass)and became Earth Sound. They moved to L.A.,and met Bumps Blackwell who hooked them up with "Kathy J" who became another lead vocalist. They cut an album, but due the contracal disputes,it was never released!
