[edit] Template documentation

This template announces a good article reassessment nomination and provides a link to the discussion. Please do not use this template directly to nominate an article for reassessment: instead please place {{subst:GAR}} at the top of the article talk page and save the page. This will create a copy of this template with a link to a new good article reassessment page as follows:

Follow this link to create the good article reassessment page for this article. (If you have already done this, and the template has not changed, try purging this talk page.)

Following the link opens an edit box for a new good article reassessment page with some preloaded text (from {{GAR/preload}}) and some instructions (from {{GAR/editintro}}) on how to complete the request. Once this page is created, this template changes to provide a link to the request:

This article has been nominated for good article reassessment to determine whether or not it meets the good article criteria and so can be listed as a good article. Please add comments to the article reassessment page.

However, you may need to bypass the cached version of the article talk page to see this change.

Once a good article reassessment discussion has been closed, replace this template by {{Old GAR|page=N|result=result|page=~~~~~}} (five tildes), where N is the page number of the reassessment page for the article (usually 1) and result is one of "listed", "delisted, "not listed" or "kept" (leave blank if there was no consensus). Alternatively, remove this template from the article talk page and add or update the {{ArticleHistory}} template.
