In the first panel, Jon is sitting at his drawing board and Garfield is sitting next to him on a chest of drawers. Jon says "Hi, there... I'm Jon Arbuckle. I'm a cartoonist, and this is my cat, Garfield." In the next panel, Garfield thinks "Hi, there. I'm Garfield. I'm a cat, and this is my cartoonist, Jon." In the last panel, Jon says "Our only thought is to entertain you." and Garfield thinks "Feed me."
