Gary Grant

Gary Grant (born April 21, 1965 in Canton, Ohio) is a retired American professional basketball point guard in the NBA.

Gary "The General" Grant played for Canton McKinley High School and collegiately at the University of Michigan. Grant is Michigan's all-time leader in assists, with 731, and steals, with 300.

He was selected in the 1988 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, but was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers before the 1988-89 season started. There he remained for seven years before moving on to the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat, and the Portland Trail Blazers. Grant also spent time playing in Europe after his NBA career had wound up, performing extremely well, especially in Aris BC, Thessaloniki, in the Greek League. In high school, he was a three-year starter for Canton McKinley and helped lead the school to its first-ever state championship in 1984. He left the storied McKinley program as its second leading scorer in team history with 1,431 points behind only Nick Weatherspoon.[citation needed]
