Gary Edson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gary Edson is an American political economist.
Edson was formerly the Deputy Assistant to the President of the United States for International Economic Affairs, and Deputy National Security Advisor. He has been the Deputy Director for International Affairs at the United States National Economic Council since 2001. Edson received a B.A. in Anthropology from Stanford University. He had the primary role within the Bush Administration for the creation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.
As of April 2007, he is recovering from a brain tumor that has left him temporarily incapacitated and only working part-time as Deputy Director of the NEC. The tumor has not affected his famously colorful personality. Many within the insular Washington D.C. foreign aid community have stories about Edson's antics during meetings, including lying down on the floor, loudly screaming points, and emphasizing his words with powerful smacks on boardroom tables. Because of these actions, he is one of the most endearing and amusing personalities within the Bush Administration's economic policy team.
Edson is also member of The Scowcroft Group.
