Garwood Public Schools

The Garwood Public Schools is a community public school district that serves students in Kindergarten through eighth grade from Garwood, in Union County, New Jersey, United States.

Students in grades 9 - 12 attend Arthur L. Johnson High School in neighboring Clark as part of a sending/receiving relationship.[1]

Schools in the district (with 2005-06 enrollment data from the National Center for Education Statistics[2]) are:

  • Washington School with 69 students in Kindergarten (full-day) and First Grade
  • Lincoln / Franklin School with 333 students in Kindergarten (half-day) and grades 2 - 8.

The school's superintendent, Dr. Murphy, resigned from duty on December 18, 2007 after a long illness which was said to be a Stroke. Dr. Teresa Quigley is and has been acting superintendent.
