Gangachhara is located at 25.8500° N 89.2167° E . It has 37235 units of house hold and total area 209.61 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Gangachhara has a population of 192336. Males constitute are 52.04% of the population, and females 47.96%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 94048. Gangachhara has an average literacy rate of 22.4% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
