Gandhi Memorial International School

Gandhi Memorial International School was founded in 1950, and it is one of the international schools schools in Jakarta, Indonesia. The GMIS has moved to a new modern campus in 2004 located in Kemayoran (Central Jakarta), while the old campus is used for the Pre-School. Currently, the GMIS contains nearly 2000 students from around the globe, with about 50 nationalities. This school offers their students qualified learning options from Nursery, IGCSE, O Level Science and Commerce, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The GMIS follows the, British, IB curriculum. The students of GMIS join top colleges and universities around the world: the U.S.A., U.K., India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Philippines, Canada, Switzerland, Korea, Sri Lanka, etc.

From Nursery until Year 8 students are using Primary Years Program (PYP-IB) and U.K curriculum. Once they reach High School, the students will have Middle Years Program (MYP-IB) curriculum. Year 9 and 10 students can choose between the Science Stream (subjects: English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography/History, Music/Visual Art/Theatre Art, Second Language-Hindi/French/Indonesian/Mandarin, P.E) or the Commerce Stream (subjects: English, Mathematics, Business/Accounting, Economics, Biology, Music/Visual Art/Theatre Art, Second Language-Hindi/French/Indonesian/Mandarin, P.E), and at the end of year 10, the students will have a Matriculation Examination. As they move to year 11 and 12, they will also choose between Science Stream or Commerce Stream, and at the end of year 12, they will have a Higher Secondary Examination. The year 11 and 12 students are offered a very extensive two-year curriculum that provides students with balanced education, which is the International Baccalaureate program.

The GMIS is affiliated and accredited by The International Baccalaureate Diploma, University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (IGCSE, O & A Level Examinations), Board of Secondary Education, Association of Indian Universities, Australian Music Examinations Board (Melbourne), University of Delhi, University of Mumbai.

Facilities at GMIS include a library, computer laboratories, music rooms, seminar rooms, an auditorium theatre, gymnasium, play-area, medical clinic, language rooms, science laboratories, audio/video rooms, bank, canteen, air conditioned classrooms, six elevators, and a career advice for entrance to higher education.
