Don't know if you've come across this already, but if not, you should have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Sydney and Wikipedia:Australian wikipedians' notice board, a couple of gathering places for Sydney-based and other Australian Wiki-editors to talk about what needs doing on the local front, and plan collaborations.
