Thanks,

Hmm...

How did you grow those Gallium crystals...I would LOVE to do this for my science class...

I don't really want to leave my email in a post? can you give me a way to contact you?

Thanks,

Derek

I would like to know too, if all you science genuises out there would care to share some information! Allison

[edit] How to grow

To grow similar crystals, put 100 grams of pure gallium in a plastic dish, cover the dish, and melt it by leaving the dish in a bowl of hot water (don't let the water enter the dish). You may have to swirl the liquid around to get residual oxide off the surface of the metal and onto the walls of the container. Once it's fully melted, take it out of the water and put the dish somewhere for 30-60 minutes. Any vibration or contact with the dish will disrupt the growth of the crystals, causing them to grow very small. After time has passed, stop the crystal growth by tilting the container (to move the liquid surrounding the crystals) and cooling it. It may take a few tries with swirling around the liquid as it solidifies to gauge the speed of your crystal growth. Foobar 07:56, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
