Gail Jefferson

Gail Jefferson (22 April 1938 – 21 February 2008) was the creator of many of the elements of Conversation Analysis transcription, and with Harvey Sacks and Emanuel Schegloff, one of the principal founders of Conversation Analysis. The system of transcribing human conversation is known as the Jefferson System. Jefferson died of cancer in 2008.
