[edit] Introduction

My name is Gabriel John Spiro and I was born on October 30, 1987 in Botosani, Romania. I was placed in an orphanage until the age of 3 ½ by my birth mother. In 1989 the communist government in Romania was toppled by a huge revolution that resulted in Nicolae Ceauşescu being executed on Christmas Day 1989. My adoptive parents in the United States believed that God was directing them to adopt their children from abroad and the revolution in Romania provided the right opportunity. After filling out the myriads of paperwork, they were granted permission to go to Romania and my Mother left with a close family friend and journeyed to Romania. They spent 10 weeks in the dead of winter in the Carpathian Mountains trying to find their children. They found my brother (who isn’t my biological brother) and myself on opposite sides of the Carpathian mountains. One of the many reasons I was adopted was the fact that they were able to find my birthmother in the capital city, Bucharest.

[edit] Why study what I study?

I got involved in history and political science extremely early on in my life. At least 6 or 7 years ago our family got involved in a History Co-op where we learned about those great political leaders and famous villains. It wasn't long until we boys took this very innocent topic and began to mold a very loose system of good guys and bad guys. As I grew older I increasingly became more and more interested in becoming the leader (mostly to show my humble side, wrong) and the system became more defined. Now we had two groups; The President and his body guards, and the assassins on the other side. It was as the group got bigger and bigger that I had to cement my leadership (or iron clad rule on the other lowly kids) and the UNC was formed. The UNC stood for the United Nations of the Children. This name was given by one of my best friends, the Buck. It wasn't soon after this that I had crafted a constitution for this society (I actually still have a copy) and this was a very elaborate system and the best thing was how Chris Fortier, Samuel Branchaw, and myself were kept in power constitutionally. In fact, nothing could happen without our own approval. (A funny thing to do would be to go and talk to Samuel Branchaw about the UNC as it is one of his low points and he will be embarrassed and most likely lay a lot of blame upon my shoulders). It was then in 9th grade when I took my first Political Science class with Captain Christopher Douglas Glass. In this class he wet my appetite for governments and the history of those governments. After taking 4 more credits from him I then graduated High School and now I'm a Political Science major. (By the way, try to guess my favorites TV shows are... )

[edit] Religion and Schooling

I am a self professing Christian who believes in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I was baptized this fall and am trying to live my life for His glory. I was homeschooled for all 12 years of school. My parents believed that God again was telling them that they should school us and I have no regrets about it. You might be wondering if I missed prom, home-coming, sports and everything else you might link to the ‘proper’ high school experience. For me, I had such a great time in homeschool! Though there wasn’t a prom and other important event, my life was extremely busy with other stuff. For example, in my senior year of High School, I was involved in two church plays (Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Coat , Acts), participated in a team-policy debate, took early placement classes at Montgomery College, and many church events. My debate partner and I actually won 7th place at the state competition.

[edit] Wikiversity

I'm a member of the School of History European History Department, with most of my contributions being related to the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. I've also started the American History Department and plan on developing some more courses there. I try to go to some other random pages and work on pages that need an extra eye. Recently I did some work on the Christianity Portal.

[edit] Wikipedia

I’ve been a member of the Wikipedia for some time now and have helped work on several pages under several other username (mainly because I couldn’t remember what my user or password was) until I consolidated all of my work under my own name. I’ve been hiding out around the Biography pages and been having a lot of fun there.

[edit] Right Now

Currently I am part of the Student Senate, “First Year Experience” Ambassador program, and assistant to the Co-Chair of the Middle States Self Study (with Dean Karen Roseberry). I’ve also been involved in the inauguration of Dr. Brian Johnson and I was a member of the Student Senate at Montgomery College – Germantown Campus.
