[edit] Fair-use dispute

The image is definitely replaceable. Any suitably skilled artist could draw or 3D model an impression of this aircraft based on Boeing's press releases. The fact that Boeing owns the copyright on the material that the artist is starting from is immaterial as long as the artist's work is sufficiently different from the source so as not to constitute a derivative work. --11:37, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Gulfstream/General Dynamics, not Boeing. - BillCJ (talk) 20:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Disagree, as no artist can know what the plane looks like without seeing the copyrighted image first. Also, that goes against the whole concept of fair-use as I understnad it, and in fact there are many such fair-use images under all over WP of just this type. We need to be certain this is being interpreted per US laws, which is where both Gulfstream and WP are located. - BillCJ (talk) 20:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Unless the visual specifications (ie blueprints) have been released to the public to give the artist an accurate idea of the plane, any free impression would be a derivative of the artwork. As a result, this image at the moment is non-replaceable. --wL<speakยทcheck> 11:55, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
