[edit] 2007
The stuff I added about Paul Gilbert playing with Petrucci and Satch can be found in Satch's newsletter so i have no source for it other than that... i could post the email here so you can verify it but more than likely within a day or so tons of guitar sites will be sourcing this information. Im so fucking excited about this woot woot The Ravager 18:42, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
I always thought the G3 tour was Satriani's idea alone. If I'm right either Eric Johnson and Steve Vai should be credited as founding members or neither. Whether or not I'm right maybe we should consider a citation? Also, there's not much information on the 2004 tour. I know that the songs performed for the G3 jam at the Hammersmith Apollo date on that tour were Rockin' In The Free World, Red (King Crimson cover) and Ice 9 (Joe Satriani cover). I think this is notable because Red and Ice 9 havent been played as G3 jam songs on other tours. Also they are both instrumentals and written by two of the guitarists (Satriani and Fripp).129.11.102.159 20:36, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're right that it was Satriani's idea alone, and it has been corrected. (Not by me, by the way.) --Hetzer 16:46, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
the set lists were not the same at all the shows. I saw Paul do "You Kids" at the Cincinnati show, I believe it was done in place of "Radiator" Dom316 01:24, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:G3 2001 Posterr.jpg
Image:G3 2001 Posterr.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] 1997 tour
I saw G3 in 1997 (I'm pretty sure it was '97, anyway) in Vancouver, Canada, and contrary to the article (which says Vai only toured Europe), it was Fripp (seating/opening), Kenny Wayne, Vai, and Satch, with all 4 jamming out at the end. It's 10 years ago now, but my memory isn't that bad, I'm 100% Vai was there, as he was the principle reason I went. If I ever come across the ticket stub (I still have it somewhere) and it has the artists I'll photo it and upload for confirmation, but short of that I've got no source for it so I didn't edit the article, but just thought I'd provide the info for those working on it.
