Talk:Futura (typeface)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Futura is used in a rather lot of designs. Is it really sensible to add some random examples to this article?
-- I agree, the entire last paragraph is questionable. While interesting, we don't need pop-culture trivia to describe a font.
[edit] Dates
The date created in the article conflicts with the infobox - the former is 1928, the latter is 1927. 199.44.82.81 18:41, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Link to Metro
"Metro" previously linked to Metro which is obviously wrong. The Metro Disambiguation page does not carry a link to a page on the Metro typeface, and I can not find any other reference to it on Wikipedia. I have removed the link, but presumably we need a page for the Metro typeface ? Sadly I am not qualified to write it. GeraldH 15:38, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Mistake in Image: "Erinnerrung"?
I'm referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:FuturaSP.png
I assume the example "Erinnerrung" is the german word "Erinnerung" or is the mistake intentionally? 87.234.84.80 01:05, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
In making specimens I use word culturaly related to the place and time the typeface> The word originates on a promotional piece that Renner designed for Futura. I may have included a typo. I will check my source when I get to my office, and fix the specimen. CApitol3 12:19, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh? So much work and thought went into this? Then, if I may suggest another word: Aufschwung. Because, from what I gather, remembering what happened the years before was the last thing people wanted in the 50s and it was all about the Wirtschaftswunder. Plus, it is called Futura after all and not Praeterita. On the other hand Erinnerung is a serious political statement under these circumstances. Just a thought. (also, i put a line between your answer and my first post) 87.234.84.80 03:43, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
