Furuta Shigenari (古田重然?) (1545-1615) was the founder of the Oribe Ryū (school) of Japanese Tea Ceremony. Also known as Furuta Oribe (古田織部?). During the year of 1600, Shigenari received a 10,000-koku income. During the Osaka Campaign of 1615, Shigenari was tasked to plot in Kyoto against the Tokugawa and the Emperor, on the behalf of the defenders of Osaka. After this event, Shigenari was put to death along with all of his sons.
