London's Funky house (also known as London house or just Funky) is a funky influenced subgenre of UK garage, the London-based sister scene to Bassline house. It mixes traditional UKG beats, bass loops and synths with bongos and sexy vocals.
[edit] History
Darker strain of funky house has begun to emerge from London. It's largely coming from producers involved with the grime and old UK garage scenes. The imaginative genre name 'funky' has been put forward. Since there isn't enough material to fill a full set, DJs mix this stuff with US house and call the product 'house & funky'. In London there are now specialist nights for this new UK funky music, such as Casa Funk. The events are usually hosted by MCs.
