Fritaja
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fritaja is a Croatian and Slovenian dish. There are two different types: one is made with asparagus, eggs, and onion, while another is made with eggs and truffles. Both are speacialties in Istria.
A similar dish, also known as fritaja or frtalja, is also popular in western Slovenia (Slovene Littoral); here, the asparagus variant is known, but different herbs are also added.
Both the Croatian and Slovenian names come from the Venetian dialect Italian word fritaia, which means "fried".
