[edit] Speedy deletion of Puzzle Monkey
A tag has been placed on Puzzle Monkey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Soxred93 | talk bot 12:14, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Band notability
Hi,
The notability criteria for bands on Wikipedia are listed here: WP:BAND.
I see that at least one album by this band is listed at allmusic.com . If it was released by a notable label, then it would be good sign of notability. The problem is that i can't find any info about this Dreamshore label. If you have sources that prove that this label is notable, this article would have a chance. Also, if you can prove that this band was covered in external sources, it would be the best showing of notability. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 13:09, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Puzzle Monkey
Although the article qualified for speedy deletion under CSD:A7 for not asserting significance, I have userfied it at User:FrediCM as a courtesy so you may develop it further to address those concerns if you are able before moving it back to article space (if your account is less than four days old, you must either wait or seek assistance in doing this). You may wish to review WP:MUSIC for guidance on notability of bands. You indicate, though not in the article, that the band exerted widespread influence. This is an assertion of importance, though it was not in the article, and should undoubtedly be added...but in order to avoid other deletion processes, you will need to substantiate this with reliable references unrelated to the band. The number of releases of the band will not qualify unless the labels are notable in themselves; this suggests they are not. You indicate that the band "originated the term "Art Rock"", which would be an assertion of significance if demonstrable, but lacking such demonstration can't be accepted on face value as the term has been in active use since the 1960s. As one example, it's discussed in a 1967 article by The Gleaner (September 06) as a "new American idiom, called "art rock". If you have any questions about any of these policies or guidelines, please feel free to let me know or ask about them at Wikipedia's help desk, which is typically manned around the clock by volunteers. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:21, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
